“Staff LOVE the new space. They love the light, industrial feel and it feels like a ‘real’ harm reduction center. We have heard positive feedback from staff, volunteers, donors, and clients expressing how much this center feels like a safe and welcoming space.” - HIPS Staff
Inscape Publico designed the spaces for our nonprofit partner HIPS to promote the health, rights, and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by sexual exchange and/or drug use due to choice, coercion, or circumstance. The program spaces on the first floor progress from the most public spaces, entry, reception, and communal gathering spaces, to semi-private areas including the conference room, kitchen, restrooms, clothes distribution, and needle exchange/condom distribution rooms, to the most private spaces, the counseling and medical exam rooms. The second floor houses HIPS'staff with the delineation of functions and work-areas created by objects set within the overall space. The open floor plan facilitates communication between staff members, while private meeting rooms allow for personal client meetings and confidential inter-staff dialogue.
“The open layout of the administrative offices has dramatically improved the quality of care we are able to offer. There is generally more transparency in client care and the layout of the workstations really encourages departments to collaborate and offer continuity of care.” - HIPS Staff
