eCasa Housing Prototype
Mi Casa and Inscape Publico are collaborating on a net-zero housing prototype to provide affordable high-performance housing to low-income families in Washington, DC. Mi Casa is a nonprofit provider of affordable housing, sustaining diverse and healthy communities in the DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas. The three bedroom, one and a half bath eCasa houses are designed for a narrow building footprint, with an efficient open first floor plan for living, dining, work/study, and preparing meals. Front porches and stoops connect the houses to the street and each unit has a private rear yard for entertainment and a garden. The house is Net Zero, producing, through photovoltaics, as much energy as it uses over the course of a year.
